Exterior Tank Repaint — Chemical Processing Facility

Project Overview

Chemical plant tanks take abuse that standard industrial coatings aren't built for. Between UV exposure, moisture, and the chemical environment around them, coatings fail faster and the consequences of rust and corrosion are more serious than on a typical structure. Endurance Painting was brought in to repaint the exterior of the facility's storage tanks from the ground up — not just a fresh coat over old paint, but a proper prep-and-recoat done to last.

Tank coatings in a chemical environment have to be selected for compatibility with what's stored and what's in the air around them. We used a coating system designed for chemical exposure — an industrial primer over properly prepped steel, followed by a finish coat built to resist the conditions on site.

The Work

Each tank went through full prep before coating:

• Pressure washing and degreasing to remove contamination from the tank exteriors
• Power tool cleaning and hand tool prep on rust, scale, and failing coating sections
• Industrial primer coat applied to bare metal and prepped surfaces
• Chemical-resistant topcoat applied to full tank exteriors
• Careful masking around valves, fittings, gauges, and identification markings

Tank repaint work at a live chemical facility requires coordination — the plant doesn't shut down for painting. We worked around active operations, maintained proper containment for any removed coating material, and kept the job moving without disrupting the facility's production schedule.

Results

The tanks are fully recoated and protected. The finish is clean and consistent across all surfaces, and the coating system is built for the environment they're sitting in.
